Precautions for using corrosion and scale inhibitors

As a commonly used reagent in water treatment, corrosion and scale inhibitors are used relatively frequently and have good descaling and scaling properties. However, in order to fully utilize their efficiency, it is necessary to not only master the correct operating methods but also pay attention to relevant precautions before use.

1. The treatment inside the furnace is simple and easy to master, but the operators must be conscientious and responsible, and regularly inspect and test the corrosion and scale inhibitors in order to achieve the expected results.

2. Before treating the water in the furnace, it is advisable to remove the scale as much as possible to prevent a large amount of old scale from falling off and blocking the pipeline. After the furnace is shut down, it should be flushed once and attention should be paid to changes in water level.
3. Corrosion and scale inhibitors should be stored in a dry and ventilated place to prevent rain and sun exposure.
4. Pay attention to determining a reasonable dosage of medication, as excessive or insufficient dosage can cause membrane fouling.
5. If the influent contains high levels of salt and iron compounds, long-term operation can cause pollution by depositing on the surface of the reverse osmosis membrane. It is necessary to control this phenomenon, prevent sedimentation on the membrane surface, and avoid damage to the reverse osmosis membrane surface caused by increased pressure difference.
6. When using other types of corrosion and scale inhibitors, special attention should be paid to whether the flocculant used is compatible with the scale inhibitor/dispersant, otherwise it may cause blockage of the reverse osmosis membrane.
7. When the storage temperature is below the freezing point, the product will freeze. If it freezes, it should be completely dissolved and stirred evenly before use, otherwise it will affect the accuracy of drug addition.
The technical indicators of different types of corrosion and scale inhibitors vary, and the selection should be based on specific water quality and equipment materials.
Common technical indicators:
Appearance: Mostly light yellow to dark brown transparent liquid, with some being crystalline powder.
PH value: Widely applicable, usually between 2.0-10.5, some products are suitable for high pH environments (7.0-9.2).
Solid content: generally ≥ 15% -30%, and the content of active components (such as organic phosphines) must comply with industry standard HG/T 2430-2018.
Density: usually between 1.10-1.45 g/cm.
Application fields:
Industrial circulating water: widely used in circulating cooling water systems of power plants, chemical plants, steel plants, and refineries to prevent scaling and corrosion of condensers and heat exchangers.
Boiler water treatment: suitable for low-pressure boilers and heating network systems to prevent scaling inside the furnace. Some products can replace pre film agents.
Other scenarios include central air conditioning systems, oilfield water injection systems, reverse osmosis membrane systems, and the textile printing and dyeing industry.
In the use of corrosion and scale inhibitors, attention should be paid to their operational effectiveness at all times to avoid malfunctions during use. At the same time, storage methods should also be noted, and it is strictly prohibited to place them in damp places. Before use, it is necessary to have a detailed understanding of the instructions for use, including the amount, method, and precautions for addition.
